Picking Our Editor

Image
Welcome back! Thank you for tuning into my blog. Previously, I talked about taking a break from our short film's productivity. This is because we wanted to study for a major exam coming up. Fortunately, we completed our exam! I think I did very well. Now that it is over, I can focus on other things. Obviously, the short film. Things have been going great! I'm so happy I have a team of dependable people. Cecelia took the reins for the past few days. Recently, we've been talking more about roles. This includes who is going to edit. This is important because this means that the person will have to not only edit the film but use their phone to record all the scenes. My group and I had a very long discussion about who should be the editor. Factors that came into play were: camera quality, knowledge about camera movement, and phone storage. These are major factors that helped us decide that Charlie will be the editor. It makes the most se...

Comparing 9, The Short, And 9, The Full-Length Movie

My first impression of this short film was a bit strange. I felt like the post-apocalyptic earth with mechanical creatures and animals made the film a strange sci-fi feel. However, the meaning behind the plot regarding humans and machines, or what makes people alike in certain ways was shown when the other eight rag dolls emerged from the dead. The lack of speech or diction in this film also aided the meaning behind his film in regard to what makes us all alike. It is also cool to learn and relate to a character without even hearing them talk. Conventions used are an abundance of low and high angles, to show the antagonist's power over 9, yet also eye-level shots are used to show emotion in such characters. Full-length film: The full-length film had much more character development, we were able to better understand who the characters were and how the emotional vulnerability aided the plot of the film. In the full film, the ragdoll seems to be more...

Short Film Research: Emilie Muller/ Drama

Image
The first short film I watched was “Emilie Muller”, a short film made in 1994. It's about a girl who goes in for an interview and the director talks to her about what's in her bag. I was able to watch this using a website called ‘film short’ which showed me the movie.  In the film, there are only diegetic sounds in the film. In the beginning, there is some music that plays but it fades out and is the main focus of the film. It's more shown after one main scene that you can only hear the dialogue between the two characters and any other sounds are from the world where the story is being told. Its shows that with drama films the main focus should be the story and not the music that usually plays in movies.        The makeup accents the face and it's natural so it's not heavy on the face. With the costumes, they are clothes that anyone would wear, and they aren't anything different from clothes people would wear on avera...
