Delaying Production For A While Due To Major Exam

Image
Good morning! Welcome back to another blog. Previously I talked about the actors you will see in our short film. Now, I will talk about why my group and I thought it would be best to delay production for a while. We were so excited to start filming but unfortunately, things got in the way of that.  On March 1st, my team and I will be taking our SAT. The SAT is a really important test in America. It is a standardized test that colleges look at during the college admission process. Cecelia, Charlie, and I really want to do well on this test. We have been studying so hard! Studying has taken up a lot of our time. So, we have decided that it would be best to delay production for a few days. We have worked very start on our short film! Taking a break to focus on our studies will not hold our short film back. Instead, I think it will make us even more productive since we will have all those tough exams out of the way and be able to focus more on our short film. Even if we did not de

The Actors Of Our Short Film

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. Previously I talked about the music you'll see in our anticipated short film. Today, you will read about the actors that will be featured in our scenes!  I will also announce the roles they will be playing! I am so excited to announce our actors for the short film!  An actor's job is never-ending. It is one of the most important roles in making a short film. The role of an actor is to fully represent the character they are reenacting. They also have to convince the audience that the character they are playing is real. Additionally, they have to draw the audience into the story.  This may be hard at first, but with the help of me (the director), Cecelia, and Charlie, we can help our actors go above and beyond for their roles! One fun fact about our team is that Cecelia was actually a part of our school's very first theater production since the pandemic! Her insight into acting will be very important for our actors. The actors in our

Can't Stop The Music!

Good morning! Welcome back to another blog made by yours truly. As you can tell by the title, I will be talking about the music in our short film. Previously, I briefly mentioned that Cecelia and I are musicians. So, naturally, music is very important to us.  To me, music is emotion- it is art. Art is an anecdote to numbness. I truly believe that. I do not want the short film to be emotionless and cold. I want it to have life and color! I believe that music will bring about a different kind of detail in our short film.  Music is more than just want you can hear. It can tell you about the characters and evoke a specific emotion. Most importantly, it can influence a viewer's interpretation of a scene and foreshadow certain events. This is crucial for our short film. There will be a lot of foreshadowing in our short film and different emotions throughout the short film. Therefore, it is important that we use music to evoke that. We do not plan on emailing any

Continuing Production Process The Best We Can

Welcome back to another blog! Previously I talked about how my team and I were unable to film. This really put a dent in our plans. It has been hard to arrange a proper filming date for our Short Film. Everyone is pretty busy.  This is very frustrating but I understand that this season there are many major projects people are working on. For example, Charlie has a super important competition that he and his teammates have been working on. Cecelia has a music ensemble performance to work on. I also have to practice for my music solo. Arranging dates for production has humbled me a bit.                 I understand that life gets in the way. We can't do everything we want to in such a limited time slot. This is why I plan on moving the filming day a little further. This does not mean that we will stop production. In fact, production is only getting started! We still have a lot of things to work on so that our filming day goes according to plan! From actors to editing s

Raincheck On Production

Image
Hi there and welcome to my second production blog! Previously I told you about the props we bought from Target. Charlie, Cecelia, and I were so excited to start filming today. Unfortunately, we could not. We did not predict that today would rain. This blog is titled "Raincheck", which is very ironic. I did not think we could receive bad weather in such a sunny month like February! Obviously, I was proven wrong. February has been such a busy month for my team and me. We should have looked at the weather report for today. However, we will learn from our massive mistake a plan better!            The next time we start filming, I will make sure to review all the factors involved. This includes: whether the park is open, the weather, and the availability of our actors. I will especially try to find a date that is best for Charlie and Cecelia since they have a lot of important events coming up. Today was really the best day for us to film. Other than the weather, we have

Starting Production!

Good morning! I am so excited to finally start production with my team. This week we decided to focus on props. Props are very important in our film. It will help us paint the story in our film. Another reason why I believe props are crucial to our film is the fact that it helps the set the scene in the setting. The park is our setting for our short film. Charlie, Cecelia, and I decided that using props that fit the park would provide the audience with context needed to understand the story. There have been many cases in which the lack of props made it harder for the audience to understand the story. I do not want that in our film. To get the props, me, Charlie, and Cecelia went to Target. We got a lot of props that we felt would help tell our short film's story. There are many objects that have great significance in out story. This includes: posters, flowers, and of course props for our actors to use. After we got these props, I have been feeling more confident about thi

The Storyboard For Our Short Film

Making this storyboard was so much fun! Click this blog to view the Storyboard Google Slides! Scene 1: Establishes the park, where the main character is upset about a recent event in which she got bullied at school. The first scene immediately introduces both main characters, as well as the conflict regarding bullying and mental health.  Scene 2: This scene is still at the park, Aria notices a girl at the park b a bench, she decides to walk up to her. Scene 3: Aria and this new strange girl at the park start talking, and become friends, at this time Aria is still upset about what had happened at school earlier. Scene 4: Emma, the ghost, questions her and is curious as to what happened, this leads to the backstory, a cut to school, where it is revealed that Aria has been getting bullied, Emma notices this serious situation. Scene 5: Emma talks to Aria, and tries to spark confidence in her, to stand up to the bullies, this creates a long conversation in which they find a bench, to sit an
