Hey! It's Zahra calling. I'm overjoyed. My teammates and I had planned to film the majority of our scenes today. We intended to film all of this week. However, we had slight issues. We discussed it the night before. The main performers in this film are my friends Hervis and Kayla. Kayla must always be there while we are filming since she is the one with the go pro that is being utilized.  We were planning to meet somewhere. Kayla made certain that the address was provided in case the directions were unclear. Kayla did this since she wasn't sure whether she'd be there when they were ready to depart the school grounds. Kayla was clearly not making it to either on time since one of our school groups meets every Thursday, and because today is Thursday, she wasn't going to make it to either on time. Kayla said this since she had to go notify the president that she would be late for the meeting. So, Kayla made a mistake this morning by forgetting to bring the go pro. Norm

Filming Our Final Film

Image
Hey!! It is Zahra again! I hope you missed me. Last week was spring break. The group and I took a break from school. However, we still upheld our responsibilities for the final film. During the break, we discussed our schedules. Unfortunately, we faced many difficulties. Usually, it is quite easier to find a day we can all meet. But this was more challenging since nobody really had the availibility. For example, Hervis was out of state during the break. Kayla and Ariel planned where we would meet for filming. Unfortunately, Hervis would not make it there on time. His flight ended at 8 p.m. which is way too late! I sadly could not make it that week either. However, I promised that I'll be available for filming after spring break! The day we were planning to film on had bad weather. According to the forecast, there will be rain for the rest of the day until the night. That did not stop Kayla or Ariel! They met and worked on it together for a bit. Hopefully, it is a smooth landing fro

Continuation of Props Used for Filming

Image
Hey there!! It is Zahra. Today I will discuss what the final props will be and more about the filming process. These props are very important for the making of the final film. I quickly discussed the first necessary props in the previous blog. This includes the fake weapon and fake blood. Hervis and Kayla discussed what should he should wear during filming. White always highlights a color contrasting it. So, it made sense to pick a white t-shirt. A white shirt was definitely our best option. Especially since we are trying to emphasize the character's wound. For filming, we also have a GoPro 9. Kayla was set on getting a new camera. It is a Canon EOS 90D. It should be shipping right now. It is very much needed. There was also mention of a tripod. However, I personally do not believe that it is necessary. This is because it is believed that a tripod comes with the camera being purchased. On the bright side, things are currently looking good!

Preparing Our Props For Filming

Image
Hello! It's Zahra. This blog will be focused on my group's filming process. Today my group and I have really been making some progress. We could've started filming today. Unfortunately, our group was not able to. The weather ruined our plans of filming today. So instead, my group and I focused on the props we would use. Over the past few days, Kayla collected a few of the props needs for our final film. This includes fake blood. This will be used on my teammate, Hervis. The bottle is about 16oz of fake blood. In the image below, it is still wrapped up. This is because Kayla feared it may spill everywhere. There is a possibility that it could leave stains, so it was avoided. Originally, we wanted a more real blood color. We would have made DIY blood to make that possible. Regardless, we did not follow through with that idea. It seemed more complicated. So, Kayla just purchased fake blood. Kayla also collected a fake weapon that will be used in the film. Hopefully, we can sta

Updates On The Music Of Our Final Film

Image
This is my second production blog. We are still focused on the music. We are still going in strong. We did have a few problems that we solved or still are solving. My teammates Ariel and Kayla chose the first four songs. Those songs will be: Kendrick Lamar's Alright, H.E.R.'s I Can't Breathe, Bobby Sessions' The Hate You Give, and Childish Gambino's This Is American. Kayla reached out to the first three artists using social media. Kayla has contacted Kendrick Lamar, H.E.R., and Bobby Sessions using Instagram. They went ahead and contacted their labels as well. Ariel and Kayla emailed everyone they discovered. We tried to include as many persons as possible, including the artist, record label, and producer. We had to look for such contacts for quite some time. Then they tried to contact the artist using another social media network, such as Twitter. Kayla discovered that she couldn't do it when she tried. Despite this problem, we rose above it. Unfortun

The Music In Our Final Film

Image
Hey! This is the first time I've written a production blog for this project. I am super excited. This blog will discuss the songs that my group and I chose to incorporate in our film, as well as how we went about doing so. The music selections are related to/correspond to the pitch that my group and I chose. Last but not least, Pitch is a young Black girl who sees her closest friend's terrible death and vows to seek justice. When my teammates began looking for music, they wanted something that fit our tone and plot well. When my partner Kayla came up with the concept, she instantly thought of a plot and began considering music options. The songs chosen for the film tell a tale about our experiences as Black and Brown people in America. It describes our daily problems in society and the issues we face on a daily basis. With our video, my team and I truly want to deconstruct a tale. Something that was detailed and allowed the viewers to not only see but also hear what w
